    • About

  • Little Island

    Salt Green

    Cement pods
    Planted in the Hudson
    Grow as if
    Toward an unseen sun

    As the foot chimes
    Make playful song
    Under the dance
    Of our four feet

I want to hold you here
    And pick the purple dandelions
    Blow! Blow! Blow!
    Both you and me

    To a childhood
    Spent together
    Where we spin
    On tops

    Lazily round and round
    Smiling giggles of joy
I hear so many foreign voices
    I do not understand

    Their words
    But I do their laughter
    “Look,” you say
    “The Statue of Liberty!”

    I turn to see it
    And have new hope

  • Loose Rock

    Salt Green

    The wind
    Comes in waves
    As the red tailed hawk
    Rises and dips
    The black western carpenter bee
    Floats and flirts
    The canyon edge
    And you and I
    Sit in distance

    Then a stronger wind
    Crashes our rocky shore
    Washes us all
    Clean and away
    The loose rock too
    To a new home
    One we’ve never dreamt
    Never have we seen
    Yet, have always lived

  • RESTORE

    By Salt Green

    I lie bare
    Before you
    Tattered
    And torn
    My time
    This me
    Coming
    To an end
    There is beauty
    Rain swollen beads
    On a heart shaped
    Fallen fall leaf
    That you may miss
    And I can't preserve
    Let my love persist
    I go to restore
